April is expected to give birth to her fourth calf in the coming days.

a.m.: The baby begins to slide from April's vulva and lands on the ground, a six-foot drop! a.m.: The calf lifts its head and begins to look around.

But owner Jordan Patch says You Tube removed the feed early Thursday after someone reported it was explicit and contained nudity.

In a video posted on the zoo’s Facebook page, Patch blamed “a handful of extremists and animal rights activists” for interrupting the stream from the “giraffe cam.” The live stream resumed on You Tube later Thursday morning.

Animal Adventure Park started streaming video Wednesday of 15-year-old April in her enclosed pen at the zoo in Harpursville, 130 miles northwest of New York City.

— The owner of a New York zoo planning to live-stream a giraffe giving birth says the video feed was briefly removed from You Tube because animal rights activists labeled it sexually explicit.

a.m.: The baby's head, neck and shoulders are visible.

The baby's hooves emerged first, and the rest should shortly follow. a.m.: The head appears.

The first, lasting 10 hours, has been removed, and the second two-hour video has stopped, but is still viewable. However, park officials say “animal rights extremists” flagged the video as “sexually explicit,” prompting both to be taken down.

Once April's calf is born, weaning could take 10 months or longer; park officials will monitor the weaning process while allowing it to occur at a "natural" pace, representatives said.

After the young giraffe is eating solid food, it will be transported to another site, to participate in that park's breeding program.

"Her back end is quite swollen — there's discoloration of the vulva, and the muscles and ligaments in the tail region have all loosened," Patch told Live Science.

He also noted that there had been significant mammary development.

The birth range that AAP initially calculated for the new arrival was from mid-January to mid-February, but viewers eager for a glimpse of the birth may still have some waiting to do, Patch warned.
